Children/Youth/Family Ministry Leader


St Bride’s Church is an seeking an energetic and committed person to fill the role of Children/Youth/Family Ministry Leader in our vibrant, diverse, and friendly parish. We are looking for a high energy self-starter, an “entrepreneur” who will reimagine youth ministry, and create a space for kids, youth and families. This role requires an appreciation that Sunday morning may never work for some people, and very meaningful work can happen at other times during the week.

Location: St Bride’s Church, 1516 Clarkson Road, Mississauga. Easy access from the QEW and the Clarkson GO Station

Leader: Children/Youth/Family Ministry
Position Summary: To use your spiritual gifts and experience to develop disciples of our children, youth, and young adults, reach out to our local community and support volunteer leaders and parents of youth.
Supervision and Support: Reports to the Rector. Works closely with our Curate who has strong youth ministry experience.

Role expectations:

  • With the support and input of pastoral and lay staff, create a plan to reboot and build up the Children’s and Youth Ministry so that children and youth in our community are shaped and nurtured in the Good News of God, consistent with St Bride’s Five Purposes (Evangelism, Worship, Discipleship, Fellowship and Outreach).
  • Design and implement ways to reach out to families, children and youth in our community
  • Lead and deliver youth and family events, such as teaching programs, mission events, community outreach etc.
  • Create a family friendly ministry that that partners with parents in the development and growth of their youth, providing resources and support for Christian parenting
  • Encourage, equip and effectively coordinate lay volunteers serving in these ministries. Provide training and guidance as required.
  • Coordinate and implement St Bride’s social media calendar
Skills & Experience:
  • A joyful committed follower of Jesus Christ, you are:
  • Comfortable with the expression of faith as practiced in the Anglican Church of Canada.
  • Passionate about sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ with children and youth. ? Experienced working in a team environment.
  • Imaginative, creative, energetic and flexible.
The successful candidate will have:
  • A track record of being a demonstrated self starter, well organized with strong communication skills.
  • Pastoral sensibilities and pastoral care competencies.
  • A Post Secondary degree or diploma
  • Strong Microsoft Office and social media competencies
  • Successful completion of the requirements for the Diocese of Toronto’s Responsibility Ministry: Screening in Faith policy for high-risk ministry

Expected hours/week: 20 hours with the possibility of up to 30 hr/wk
Term of Office: 2-3 years
Note: this position requires you to work on site at the church on Sunday mornings and during the week to reach out to the community.
